How can I copy a PDF File and paste it in publisher?

I get photos and articles from people and I sometimes need to reduce the size and add it to MS Publisher 200.

I can print it out but in a PDF I cannot change the sizeHow can I copy a PDF File and paste it in publisher?
.pdf files are usually ';read only'; files and cannot be edited. I can only think of scanning the print outs onto your comp and editing the size from there after inserting it into MS.
