I have this product manual in pdf which is best viewed at 150% size. The problem is everytime I click on a bookmark it has its size changed to 125% and the fonts become too slow.
Is there any way to force the document to be kept at 150% size?
PS: I'm working with Adobe Acrobat 5.0 Pro.
Thanks in advanceHow do I prevent a .pdf (Adobe) document from changing its size every time I click on a bookmark?
Instead of clicking on the bookmark, I like to click the right arrow button which forwards to the next page quickly. This doesn't exactly answer your question, but it might be helpful anyways. Click the right arrow to go one whole page forward, and click the left arrow button to go one whole page back. You can navigate pretty quickly by hitting it multiple times rapidly. How do I prevent a .pdf (Adobe) document from changing its size every time I click on a bookmark?
I do not believe that this can be corrected. I tried but without success. It is annoying.

How do you change a Publisher file to a PDF?
You use the ';Adobe Acrobat Professional'; software and set it up into your PC. Running the Publisher, you will see the ';Adobe Acrobat'; icon at toolbar !How do you change a Publisher file to a PDF?
if you don't have an acrobat reader, try using the free PRIMO from here:
http://www.primopdf.com/
i just haven't tried it. but what i know is it converts docs to pdf. just check it and maybe you can find that pub files can be converted to pdf...
hope that helps...How do you change a Publisher file to a PDF?
There are quite a few PDF conversion programs available that are cheaper alternatives to puchasing a full version of Adobe Acrobat.
I would recommend downloading a free trial of Solid Converter PDF Professional and see if it will work for you. http://www.solidpdf.com/download.htm.
With this program, you can choose the option to print from within publisher and then choose the Solid Converter PDF printer driver as your printer and a PDF will be created. It will also create pdfs from almost any other program you can print to and converts PDF files to Word, XML and extracts tables to excel.

How to change or add content to a PDF file by using illustrator?
I have a form that i have to fill out that is a PDF form. I want to type my data rather than handwrite it. how do I do that, i think i could use illustrator for that but how? ThanksHow to change or add content to a PDF file by using illustrator?
We use Adobe Illustrator CS2 but it's likely the same for CS.
1. Open the PDF from inside Illustrator.
2. On the program menu select Window, Workspace, [Default]. This should bring up several property editing windows and the tool bar. If the tool bar is not visible, go back to the menu and select Window, Tools. This should popup the toolbox window.
3. On the toolbox window you can click the Type Tool (looks like the letter T) and move your mose over the PDF where you wish to add content. Left-click and hold donwn the button. Then drag it and you will see a rectangle appear. Let the mouse button up when you have a nice-sized box. This is an area where you can type text to add. When done typing you can resize the box, change the font from up in the menus, and more.
Other tools allow you to do other things.
When done remember to Save.
Note: if your adding the text to an area ';messes up'; the underlyng content, click undo, then attempt to add this box on a clean area of the PDF. When done typing you can click the Arrow in the upper left corner of the Tool Bar. This will give you your normal cursor back. Then single left-click the box you created and use your mouse keys to move the box over the area you wish the text to appear.

How to save word document as PDF? Works on Mac but not Windows?
I need to convert a word document to PDF form. On a Mac computer, all I simply do is open the document in Mac-Word, and then click ';save as'; and change the type to ';PDF';.
However, this process is not possible with Windows-Word. How can I change my document over without installing another third party program or uploading my document (my resume) online, which I do not want to do?
Please help. Thanks in advance. How to save word document as PDF? Works on Mac but not Windows?
Hi Akshay,
You can try Word to PDF converter to save word document as PDF. It is the best software for you to easilly save word document as PDF file.
http://www.wordtopdf.org/How to save word document as PDF? Works on Mac but not Windows?
By default, Mac already built in a way to convert doc to pdf. For those who always need to convert doc to pdf in Mac, you can easily perform the conversion without installing any software.
Unfortunately MS Word does not come with a built in feature for converting to the PDF document format. But if you are running a later version of Microsoft windows I believe XP Service Pack 3 or later Operating System you can shoose the option to save as an XPS document format (Microsoft's proprietary answer to the PDF, which should be readable on most Windows machines running XP SP 3 or later).
Sadly that is the only option that you have in MS Word without installing third party software to add the functionality.
Word 2003 and earlier on Windows can not save as PDF without additional software. Adobe Acrobat is the most popular, but there are some free software options available if you search for them.
Word 2007 and 2010 do have Save As PDF on Windows.
Afraid you cannot do that, unless you have the latest version of Office (2007 or the 2010 Beta).
You can try a *free* solution from the Internet, but I would be very cautious. Besides, most of them either add a watermark to your document or respect the PDF specs only partially.
If you need to create proper PDF files with minimum cost, I guess you can do with a limited version of Nitro PDF Express (save on it with a NitroPDF Express coupon code from http://www.dtcdeals.com/store/Nitro-PDF- Good luck!
I think there is no other way to switch from .doc to .pdf without any special program made for that or online convert

How can I changed a scanned pdf document it a text based pdf?
I have recently bought a sony ebook reader so I could scan in a load of my maths text books and read it on the train...
I have scanned one of my books to a pdf but some of the pages are not of the correct orientation, the corresponding page numbers of 2 page don't allign and some of the text is not quite as crisp as I would like (the book I have scanned is quite old).
In short I wish to convert the scanned copy into a text based copy such that the page numbers allign and the text is of similar font to the orriginal... I have the full adobe CS4 and have had some experience with InDesign... to create an ebook form scratch...
Thanks in advance...How can I changed a scanned pdf document it a text based pdf?
You need an optical character recognition program.
Of course it's actually very difficult for a computer to do what we do so easily so the best OCR have been those weird looking distorted words that websites make you type in to make sure you're a human and not a web bot. The ones with two words are the ones that are part of an OCR project, one word is the distorted challenge, the second word is actually a scanned image of a word that the software is having trouble figuring out so it's asking people to type in what it looks like. It's a voting process, the reading that most people agree upon is the one the software will assume that word to be.How can I changed a scanned pdf document it a text based pdf?

You need Adobe Acrobat Writer to convert any file into a PDF file. Unless you can find a computer that has the software already installed, for example, your friend's or co-worker's computer, you'll have to fork it up and buy the software. OR, if you're feeling lucky and adventurous, find it on one of the file-sharing networks - I wouldn't recommend it (because of viruses and trojans and worms), but that's your last resort. How do you change a Word file into a pdf file?
look for an illegal copy of distiller (adobe TM)
Or I suggest openoffice (a GPL (freeware)) office suit capable of working and saving in MicrosoftTM Office and direct export to PDF

I am working on my resume, and it's on a PDF format. How do I add more to it?
Basically, my brother did my resume for me on the PDF. I gave it to him in a word document and he changed it to a PDF format. I have more to add to it, and want to learn, myself, how to add more to a PDF format.
Does anyone understand what I am talking about? or how to help me?
Thank you.I am working on my resume, and it's on a PDF format. How do I add more to it?
I understand you completely, because I also graduate from university this year. In my opinion you have two choices.
First, Convert your PDF into Word, then edit in word format. If you choice this way, you can firstly download a free PDF converter—Nitro PDF, http://www.pdftoword.com/,
I don’t the version of your MS Office, if your version is 2007, you can download Add-in from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai… it’s free for you! Then you just click save as PDF.
Otherwise, the Office version is lower than 2007, many pdf converter can help you. Such as word to PDF: http://www.allpdftools.com/pdf-converter…
Besides, there are free ways to convert word to PDF. By installing dopdf, you can select “print”, then choose “dopdf” as your printer, this tool will save your Word as pdf format automatically.
Other way is more simple, you just need download a PDF editor, so you can do want you want in the files.I am working on my resume, and it's on a PDF format. How do I add more to it?
I understand u completely.
U cannot add something in .pdf format as the name says it all.
So the easiest way is to firstly convert it to .doc and then add the details and then convert it again to .pdf and submit it.
TO CONVERT IT
GO TO WWW.DOC2PDF.COM
FOR VICE VERSA GOOGLE IT.
Add in your resume in word document.
then
Select the printer pdf from printer option it will save your document in PDF format.
You need to get back the word document from your brother. PDF documents are not normally changeable except for size and a few other things similar. There are free programs which will enable you to make your own PDF files.
you can't edit a .pdf document. You have to convert it back to word, edit it, and then convert it back.
Get your brother to send you the last Word version (or whatever software he created it in), and then edit that version. Alternatively, you can go online and find a free conversion software to do this. The ';not free'; software for this is Adobe Acrobat, if you want to buy it, but unless you have lots of other uses for it, that's probably overkill.
The same problem i encountered before, so i can tell you how.
If you are a current user of Microsoft office2007, you can edit your resume in Microsoft word, and save directly as PDF, you need not to trouble others to help you. if you are going to make editions of your PDF file, their is no direct way,you may use a PDF converter, either convert PDF online or download a PDF to word converter to edit your PDF file.
http://www.zamzar.com ';free converter online';
http://www.anypdftools.com PDF conversion tool
As your matter, you may convert PDF to Word for further editing in that PDF files does allow user to edit them directly.
If you are a current user of Microsoft office2007, you can edit your resume in Microsoft word, and save directly as PDF, you need not to trouble others to help you. if you are going to make editions of your PDF file, their is no direct way,you may use a PDF converter, either convert PDF online or download a PDF to word converter to edit your PDF file.
http://www.zamzar.com ';free converter online';

As your matter, you may convert PDF to Word for further editing in that PDF files does allow user to edit them directly. How to change a office document to pdf format so i will be able to email a large file?
In Office 2007, you can save it as a PDF.
In Office 2003, you will need to have a DOC to PDF converter or you will need Adobe Acrobat installed. If Acrobat is installed, set it as your printer and create the file. If you're using a converter, just file the instructions of the converter.

Why does my Word (2003) document change layout when I convert it to PDF?
Using Word to create a report, primarily IN a Table, the default printer is my office Xerox. When I convert it to PDF in Adobe Acrobat (9), it makes a subtle, yet very real, change in the layout of the pages. How can I ';synchronize'; the printers' settings so they both appear/print AND convert into what I see when I'm working on it?Why does my Word (2003) document change layout when I convert it to PDF?
change you pdf converter to this software:

Converting Word in to pdf or vice versa is not so simple so very often converted format has some visual defects. And I mean it often. This is something you can not change unless if you choose to import word document into open office and there save it as pdf. This might actually help you save a decent copy of word documents.
I am not sure on second answer but from my experience with pdf printing, you can not do both in one shot.

For example, I have downloaded a pdf.form and want to change the a few items and then save this as my own. After downloading a pdf.file, how can I type or change the original?
Unfortunately, you can't in a general sense. That is one of the reasons that people use PDF files. I'm not saying that it is impossible, but with the standard tools that most people have on the their computer, you won't be able to do it. If you do some searching on Google, (or Yahoo) you will find some software that says you can modify a PDF. But, what that usually means is that you can re-paginate, apply watermarks. Stuff like that. Not change the text.
Sorry for the bad news...But good luck anywayAfter downloading a pdf.file, how can I type or change the original?
u cant with reader. you would need adobe pro
You will have to get Adobe PDF writer which costs $140 or download a cheap PDF editor online, google it to find one. Good luck.
You need to have Adobe Acrobat in order to actually modify a PDF file.
You can also youse Adobe Photoshop -- but this really only works if it's a one-page document.
You may be able to find an open-source solution on SourceForge.
chances are it's locked.
so to begin with, you'd have to crack the password, then you have to have a copy of the full version of adobe acrobat to edit it with.
hi if you did it from the website you can't do that i am not sure you can do that but you can do it if you ask for permission on the website you got the document from or the person you got it from . then you can change it. i don't know the answer to your question but that's my quess.

How do i convert a microsoft excel spreadsheet into a pdf? I need help ASAP!?!?!!?
okay so i have the spreadsheet saved as an XLS. I have Adobe Reader for my converter. How do i go about changing it into a pdf? they have to be pdf so they can go onto a website. thanks for the help!!!How do i convert a microsoft excel spreadsheet into a pdf? I need help ASAP!?!?!!?
Open your Excel document in Excel. Go to 'Save as' and choose 'PDF'.
Alternatively, go to 'Print' and where you get the dropdown menu of which printer to choose, pick 'Adobe PDF'. The PDF will be created and saved to your desktop, usually.
If you don't have this option, use OpenOffice's version of Excel (spreadsheet) and follow the same procedure - with OpenOffice you can always get the latest version of it because it's free! (and much better than Microsoft Office). How do i convert a microsoft excel spreadsheet into a pdf? I need help ASAP!?!?!!?
i think there is a plugin for Office 2007 (if that's what you have) that allows you to save as PDF but IDK if it works for Excell
You need Adobe ACROBAT software. Adobe Reader is ONLY for viewing PDF files. There are programs online that will allow you to make your spreadsheet into a PDF.
But here is the simplest and FREE way! Open a Google account and signup for ';Docs %26amp; Spreadsheets';.
http://docs.google.com/
Upload your Excel spreadsheet file to their website.
Export the file as a PDF!
Done!
Go to www.download.com and download CutePDF Writer. It makes a ';printer'; on your system that turns whatever you ';print'; into a PDF. It does the same thing as if you had the full version of Acrobat and printed to their deal. The only problem is you can't edit the PDF unless you had the full Acrobat...but that would be a different question. :-)
Try

thanksAnyone master in photo shop? How can I import Photos to photo shop and organize them in the same window?
Yes it should be done as Jpeg, Bitmap or other similar file format, as a PDF file tends to finalize the workspace. This should sort your problem, then click inset, not open, as open will cover up/replace the existing image or open in a new window again.Anyone master in photo shop? How can I import Photos to photo shop and organize them in the same window?
the file type is supposed to be jpeg i believe.
and you should be able to open photoshop then click file then click open and browse for the picture you want to work with:]
Pdf? is the format for Adobe Acrobat Reader, do you mean Psd?
The only time you open multiple Images actually in Photoshop is when those images are part of what you are creating. Such as doing a Panorama, or merging multiple Images into one.
You don't have to convert an Image to import it into Photoshop. Photoshop will open most any Image format. When you have finished what you are doing in Photoshop you can Save as any format you want, including PSD.
Cataloging, changing format, viewing multiple Images is all done in Bridge, not in Photoshop.
In Bridge you can Batch Process a group of Images (In the Tools Menu) Rename Files, Move, Copy and a whole host of other things.

If your on Windows you may need third party software - I think Vista you can export as PDF but I'm not sure. Someone correct me if I'm wrong there.
Otherwise, if your on a Mac (version 10.4 or newer) you can simply go to ';print'; and then choose ';Save as PDF'; and that's all there is to it.How can I change a jpeg picture to a pdf?
If you are on a mac, you can open it in Preview %26amp; save it as a pdf.
you probably need a pdf creator....Just add the image to the new pdf file and save it...
search ';jpeg to pdf'; on google. Im serious
there are several free software available on the internet. i suggest you check this link: http://www.primopdf.com/ it converts different types of files to pdf. :)

PDF document has password, change it?
I have a PDF document that has a password and I'd like to change that password, how would I go about doing that?PDF document has password, change it?
You probably have to open the PDF in the original program you created the document from and resave it (or save as/export with a new name) and when the dialog pops up for the settings of the PDF - there you should be able to reset or disable the password for your PDF. Most programs will have different variables when doing this. It may help to mention what program it was created from, etc. - for future answers (if that info is known) I hope this helps some, Goodluck.PDF document has password, change it?
u cannot do that, its protected.
Can try if u have some PDF editor.

How to change the TAB key direction on a pdf file?
I need it to go from left to right instead of vertically. How to change the TAB key direction on a pdf file?
Only way this could be done is via a javascript addon to the Adobe reader.....and, even then, it would be doubtful whether you'd achieve what (I think) you're after.
You might try one of the other readers on the market, if you're currently using Adobe's own. Some of the others may have this built in--I'm not sure, because I use the Adobe writer for everything, so haven't used the Reader in about six years.

Was ';global warming'; changed to ';climate change';?
It's seemed to me the terms have always been used interchangeably.
From 1975: ';Climatic Change: Are We on the Brink of a Pronounced Global Warming?';
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/ab鈥?/a>
From 1979: ';if carbon dioxide continues to increase, [we find] no reason to doubt that climate changes will result';
http://globalclimatechange.jpl.nasa.gov/鈥?/a>
Why do so many people insist on giving so much significance to whether one term is used over another? People say it's so scientists can say that even if it gets cold, they can still say they were right, completely ignoring the actual definition: that climate change is the effect of global warming. If the planet changes its temperature, other changes in the climate system result:
http://dels.nas.edu/dels/rpt_briefs/clim鈥?/a>
http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/fq/scie鈥?/a>
I've asked this before. Can anyone provide a scrap of evidence that the above sources are wrong, and that the name was in fact recently changed?
Can anyone provide me with a single source showing how a scientist decided to start calling it 'climate change' because he/she wasn't sure if it was going to get warmer or colder? Isn't every AGW scientist saying it will get warmer, and only saying it will get warmer?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Global鈥?/a>
Is this quite possibly the single worst argument the skeptics make? Was ';global warming'; changed to ';climate change';?
As you know, ';they'; never ';changed it'; from global warming to climate change. This is a ridiculous myth established to support the myth that the planet is no longer warming. It's getting pretty bad when you need to support your myths with other myths.
The only person who has ever said we should use the term 'climate change' instead of 'global warming' is Republican strategist Frank Luntz, because he felt the latter term was too scary.
But frankly, at this point I do prefer to discuss climate change. Global warming simply refers to the fact that the planet's temperature is increasing. That's been established, as have the causes. The serious discussion now is about what climate changes this warming will cause, and what we can do to prevent them.
That's why there's more discussion about climate change now - not because ';they changed the term';, but because that's what serious decisions need to be made about. Was ';global warming'; changed to ';climate change';?
It will always be global warming
Actually, global warming causes climate change, not the other way around.
either is fine. or you could use B.S., hoo doo, flim flam, or made up crap.
global warming is the same thing as climate change. if the earth gets a lot warmer, the climate has changed. climate change is just a more general way of naming the problem, for instance, it could aloso mean, say, the climate got waaaay colder, like another ice age, which, ironically, according to some, global warming could cause.
The political activists are the ones who have said that we should be calling it climate change and not global warming because it is a more ';descriptive' term, ';not scientists';. It is the political activists who are blaming every single single extreme weather event on climate change. There are people on this board who have said that the flooding in Manitoba, droughts in Australia, hurricanes, are all proof of ';climate change';.
I've heard worse from believers too man! the made up facts is just one of them!
Both sides of the war have caused atrocities!
What we can do is reconcile!
it isnt really significant because it keeps changing.. nobody knows which one it is..
if its hot outside then its global warming but if its snowing or there is a hurricane then it is climate change...
what people dont understand is that climate changes on its own and has done so throughout history.. there is no proof that man and industrialization and carbon gases cause global warming.. just because they happen doesnt justify causation..
people that claim it is global warming or climate change are absolutely right.. climate changes and the earth cools and warms on its own.. but the bigger arguement is whether it is caused naturally or caused by man
NO
In fact the media changed Climate Change to Global Warming to sell copy.
Yet the same denier keeps on posting the same question about GW being changed to CC over and over again.
This repeat posting, along with the blocking of anyone who can prove them wrong, is a well known tactic of the ';acolytes of jello'; used to give their leader Best Answer points.

The bottom line is that calling it climate change is nothing new, but as we have already discussed we can thank Frank Luntz for making the term ';climate change'; more politically preferable for the right-wing .
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/20鈥?/a>
';The phrase ';global warming'; should be abandoned in favour of ';climate change';, Mr Luntz says, and the party should describe its policies as ';conservationist'; instead of ';environmentalist';, because ';most people'; think environmentalists are ';extremists'; who indulge in ';some pretty bizarre behaviour... that turns off many voters';.
But you said ';provide me with a single source showing how a scientist decided to start calling it 'climate change' because he/she wasn't sure if it was going to get warmer or colder?'; Fat chance on that one.
Yes, it is a political movement and they decided to change the name to climate change. That was because it stopped warming and warm is generally associated with good to most normal people. If you actually think that wasn't focus grouped, you are more naive that you seem.

If the anthropogenic global warming theory is wrong, why is the upper atmosphere cooling?
A cooling upper atmosphere is a key signature of an enhanced greenhouse effect. To grossly oversimplify, more heat trapped in the lower atmosphere causes the upper atmosphere (stratosphere and above) to cool. Conversely, if the planet is warming due to increased incoming solar radiation, you expect all layers of the atmosphere to warm. This is just basic physics which no climate scientists dispute.
In 1998, Jarvis et al. observed that indeed the thermosphere was behaving as predicted by AGW.
';The estimated long-term decrease in altitude is of a similar order of magnitude to that which has been predicted to result in the thermosphere from anthropogenic change related to greenhouse gases.';
http://www.agu.org/pubs/crossref/1998/98
In 2006, La拧tovi膷ka et al similarly observed that cooling trends in the upper atmosphyere were exactly as predicted by increasing greenhouse gas trends.
http://www.ufa.cas.cz/html/climaero/topi
And the stratosphere, although it's complicated by ozone depletion and recovery, has a pronounced cooling trend as well.

How do you explain the cooling of the upper atmosphere other than with AGW?If the anthropogenic global warming theory is wrong, why is the upper atmosphere cooling?
The data for your first reference go back to 1950.
This doesn't stop Ottawa Mike from pretending that the record only started in 2001, and that therefore the denialists have nothing to explain.
You can't argue with logic like that.
Edit: I've got two thumbs down inside 12 minutes. Why?If the anthropogenic global warming theory is wrong, why is the upper atmosphere cooling?
Well to start, accurate measurements of the upper atmospheric temperature only began in 2001 with the launch of the TIMED mission: http://www.timed.jhuapl.edu/WWW/index.ph
Now with 8 years of data, NASA has proposed that the cooling in the upper atmosphere is linked to the reduction in the sun's activity: http://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/feature
As is the case with most advances in knowledge, we are now in a position of better understanding climate change and its effects throughout the entire atmosphere.
As usual, you want to reach a conclusion ahead of the knowledge base.
The short answer has to do with the science of heat physics. No matter how much of the sun's energy falls on the earth, the same amount has to be radiated away or heat will build up. That's why people sweat and that's why there's a radiator on your car. If you build up a significant greenhouse barrier the amount of heat escaping into out space decreases. Of course you want some heat to be retained or at night the earth surface would plunge into the below zero area...not good. On the flip side you want a good deal of the heat radiated away or you'll burn up...also not good. Currently not as much heat is getting through the CO2, methane and water vapor that's built up in our paper thin atmosphere because of burning fossil fuels so the stratosphere up there above the cirrus clouds is cooling off...probably not good. The deniers of course have probably never parked their car in the sun with the windows rolled up...a fairly good analog for the greenhouse effect. It gets really hot in a car parked in the sun with the windows rolled up. Set 'yer tushy down on that black upholstery and the concept of 'global warming' will give you a darn good object lesson. Some deniers say the sun is getting 'hotter'...so what? The heat has to be radiated away regardless of how much incoming energy has to be dealt with. Others say it's volcanoes....that's a crock. Volcanoes put out carbon 12 and carbon 13. Burning fossil fuels produce carbon 14, a radioactive element that all living things absorb. When these living things decay or get burned, like coal and oil, the carbon 14 is released...that's how we know what percent of the atmosphere comes from burning stuff...and it's a lot and it's not a good thing. I could go on, but the deniers will just come back with some bull #$%^ about Al Gore or what some right wing radio dummy said. ';Ya gotta' love these guys!

A second question about Barack Obama?
A few minutes ago I asked a question about how Barack Obama is planning on changing America. Some people got really furious and said that I was being stubborn and not listening to what he had to say. Someone demanded that I download his ';blueprint for change'; pdf off of his website and find out. I have done so, and read briefly into his plan for universal healthcare and minimum wage.
As far as healthcare is concerned, this blueprint goes into excruciating detail as to all of the benefits we Americans would receive under his plan, which is great. But it never explains how it's going to be paid for. The way I see it, it's going to come out of my pocket.
For minimum wage, Obama says that he will look out for the American worker by keeping companies from setting up factories in foreign countries. He also plans on increasing the minimum wage in America. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't these companies set up in other countries to avoid minimum wage?
Answers anyone?A second question about Barack Obama?
EXACTLY ... Obama has long lists of words planning his future work yet the very question of HOW will he pay for it and HOW will he actually pass it into law is still up for grab. Why? Because the only way he will be able to pass any plan is by taxing us more on everything. listen the Democrats are known for raising taxes ... now with such a huge deficit what do you think they'll do? Look at California politics? the Democrats want to raise taxes on absolutely EVERYTHING.A second question about Barack Obama?
Great examples,on how Obama have no substance on any issues. He always give these ';so-called'; good speeches with great ideas, but he has no ideas on how to solve them. He does not have an idea what he has for health care and how to increase wages.
Another good example how he has no substance is how he is going to tax the oil companies? He sounds like he is going tax the profits of the oil companies and like the price of gas go even higher. so we will be paying more for the oil taxes.
Thanks for reading and citing the ';blueprint.'; I know you and I will never change each other's minds, but it's so much more pleasant to address real issues, than to deal with rants about who has the ugliest minister.
Regarding health care, of course any universal health care plan will be funded by the taxpayers. But no matter how you slice it, health care is expensive, and somebody has to pay for it. I think it's a good thing to make sure everybody is covered. And I also think that, if we can avoid awarding extraordinary profits to insurance companies and drug manufacturers, health care will be less expensive.
I realize that some believe it's better to trust the free market. They point to problems that other countries have had with universal health care. But I notice that the people in those other countries never demand a return to the free market .. so I figure they must be doing something right.
Regarding your other point: To me it does make sense to tie the minimum wage to inflation. Maybe you're right that this will result in more exporting of jobs. Frankly I don't know what to do about that, since I'd hate to see our workers paid the same as those in China and Thailand. Obama proposes tax credits for employers who keep the jobs in America. Probably that will be only a little bit helpful. If you've got a better idea, I'd love to hear it.
Obama has no plan, all blow and no go.
Increasing minimum wage is wrong, only increase inflation
a lot of companies tend to build factories in third world countries to save money. furthermore what obama is trying to do is raise taxes for these companies to discourage them from building more factories. The bush amidnistration currently gives tax breaks to companies that use this tatic.
As far as healthcare is concerned, this blueprint goes into excruciating detail as to all of the benefits we Americans would receive under his plan, which is great. But it never explains how it's going to be paid for. The way I see it, it's going to come out of my pocket.

How can I change the file size of a .PDF file? I want to make it smaller, but 1/3 to 1/2?
It is usually the size of the images in the original that make a large pdf file. Go back to your original document and edit your images to make them smaller, then recreate your pdf.
NOTE: You may want to make a copy of the original, calling it Orig-2 or something, and then just edit the images in the copy of the original - this way you can have both the larger and the smaller files.

Making changes to a pdf file ?
I received a pdf file of powerpoint slides. To print it, I want to make it into two slides per page and print double-sided (ie odd pages first followed by even pages) without messing up the order of the slides, how to do it?
Thanks!Making changes to a pdf file ?
Contact the person who sent you the file and have then send you the original PP file. PDF files are actually ';pictures'; for the original files, then makes them readable on any PC with the original PP software (which is PDF files are for - readability), but it severly limits the editability of the file (again, something you often want with a PDF file). So there is not easy way to do it. Powerpoint would let you do this with the original slides.
Now, if you have the full version of Acrobat Adobe, and not just the reader, you might be able to use the selection tool to extract each slide as a graphic, insert the graphic into a Word document, rotate and reduce it to fit two on a page, order them the way you need them, and print double-sided. Would probably need a graphic editor to crop each of the slides before inserting them into Word. Lot of work, but you could do it.
Or just print the full size slides back to back.Making changes to a pdf file ?
You need to have the original power point slide and in the print menu choose how you want the slides to print. You would then print your slides to the adobe pdf writer. Save the file. Then in adobe pdf reader you could print the odd/even pages via the print menu (when you select File--%26gt; print--%26gt; ).
Load and edit in power point or use photoshop. Some good sites for making a quilt for a baby excel

How relevant is ones opinion on Y!A when they provide no link to supporting information?
Would one be more inclined to believe the latest scientific opinion, such as that from the National Academy of Sciences (http://dels.nas.edu/dels/rpt_briefs/clim or a blog? How relevant is ones opinion on Y!A when they provide no link to supporting information?
Nobody's opinion is worth anything when it's based on ignorance. If your opinion on a scientific issue is based on what you read on blogs, when you're disagreeing with 90+% of scientific experts, your opinion is utterly irrelevant.
As a side note, for the hundredth time I'd like to point out that Huddler is not a blog. It's a website with a discussion board, wiki articles, product reviews, etc. It doesn't have a blog component. People who call Huddler a blog clearly don't even know what a blog is.
As for ClimateAudit (CA) winning 'Science Blog of the Year', that was based entirely on an online vote. Basically a bunch of deniers who read CA went and voted for it every day. It won a popularity contest, which had absolutely nothing to do with the quality of its content. It's like Fox News being the most popular news program. Just because something is popular doesn't mean there's any quality to it.
http://climateprogress.org/2009/01/02/we
Just to show you how little this ';award'; means, WattsUpWithThat won it in 2008. It ';beat'; blogs with real scientific content like RealClimate and NASA Watch.
http://2008.weblogawards.org/polls/best-How relevant is ones opinion on Y!A when they provide no link to supporting information?
Randall says ';Right - more people found it convincing than found other blogs convincing.';
Not necessarily - more people voted for it, or at least voted for it more times. So what? Deniers are convinced by what they want to be true. We already know there are a lot of deniers on the internet.
Maybe you should try convincing scientists instead of people who are ignorant of climate science. You love sports analogies - if a bunch of children vote that Tom Brady is the worst QB in the NFL, I guess that makes it true eh?
Science trumps public votes.
No relevance whatsoever, except with their own choir.
a blog because they are not part the evil socialist conspiracy that has mind control over all those dumb, jackass, Gore lovin scientists
A blog like huddler, or like the 2007 co-winner of the ';Science Blog of the Year'; award, climateaudit?
Nobody's ';opinion'; is enough to justify attempting to sharply reduce an activity by taxing it. That would be justified only with evidence. You can't win the argument as a function of ';what'; and so you try to make it an argument about ';who.';
EDIT - so ';Science Blog of the Year'; wasn't just hand-picked by an individual or panel, but rather was the result of a poll of on-line readers. Right - more people found it convincing than found other blogs convincing.
It doesn't mean anything to me. I never was to big on abrogating my thinking to others. I like to discover things on my own and only believe them (limited belief) when I have looked at enough evidence for it to be convincing. For example, I created a graph with actual measure CO2 increases per year versus measured land sea temperature.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/37398063@N0
Hopefully it is visible. I found that peaks of temperature proceeded most CO2 peaks particularly noticeable at 1998 which is what I was looking for. I would like to hear an explanation from an alarmist explaining why variations in emissions of CO2 (which are supposedly dominated by humans) follow temperature. But those sorts of things don't really matter. What matters apparently is we all act like lemmings get behind the ';Man is at fault so we must empower the government movement';.
Just because an individual doesn't supply ';a link'; to support their opinions doesn't mean their ideas lack merit. An thoughtful opinion can spark independent research and offer a unique perspective on an issue that may not have yet appeared in any mainstream publication.
Have we become so dependent on Wiki-facts that we fail to trust our own ideas? Must all ideas be backed by a consensus, or at the very least, ';a link';?
Scientist rarely go out in the field. Most seem to sit and look at all the info that they have gathered from their sources. It is the people that live in those areas that they get their sources from, that have seen the real effects of global warming. Are we scientists? Certainly not. But as obsevers of our environment, we certainly have relevance in our opinions.

On May 19th 2008, OISM announced that over 31,000 scientists, including more than 9,000 with Ph.D.s, signed a petition that states, ';... There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane or other greenhouse gases is causing, or will cause in the future, catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate...';
Signatories include such luminaries as theoretical physicist Freeman Dyson, MIT's atmospheric physicist Richard Lindzen and first National Academy of Sciences president Frederick Seitz. More than 40 signatories are members of the prestigious national Academy of Sciences.
Mainstream scientific opinions have been constantly proved wrong, after all remember when scientists believed that light couldn't be a wave because a wave needed a medium to travel through?
You might equally well ask why do some people not trust the Vatican to tell us about god. Because we understand that their beliefs are based on faith, not proof.
A scientific opinion should by definition be backed up with evidence. Otherwise it's speculation or politics or pragmatism or religion - but it's not scientific.

How do I control headers in Open Office?
Hi I've created a text document in Open Office, ready to change to a pdf. The problem is that Ive created a header for the doc that shows up on every single page - well I don't want it to appear on every page.
How can I do this?
Thanks in advanceHow do I control headers in Open Office?
In OpenOffice.org Writer you use page styles. Essentially you use one page style for pages where you want the header to appear and another page style where you don't want it to appear.
Press F11. This will bring up the style viewer. To see the page styles available select the fourth icon at the top of the screen. Make sure that the bar at the bottom of the screen reads “All” so that all page styles are visible.
You will probably find that the “Default” page style is highlighted, as that is probably the style you are already using. Just right-click on whatever style is highlight, and select “New';. In the window that comes up, name this new style as “Header'; or anything else you want. Set up your header only in that page style. Delete the header from your normal page style. Double click on your new “Header” page style will change what ever page your cursor is currently in, or whatever pages you have currently select, to use the new “Header” page style. Other pages can be selected to use the “Default” style without the header.
Press F11 again to exit the style viewer.
Note in the status row at the bottom of the main Writer window the second panel will list the style of the current page. You can change this by clicking on that panel and selecting another style.
Note that in the style viewer, you may ';Modify'; any page style and select by default what page style will follow it by default (though you can always change this manually when writing.)

You can easily create a PDF file out of a Word file by using the Acrobat PDF converter.
If you have Acrobat, open Microsoft Word and print to the item called ';Acrobat Distiller.';
If you do not have Acrobat, you have two choices:
1. Install a PostScript printer driver as a file printer, along with GSView and GhostScript from http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost and print the Word file to a .PS (PostScript) file. Open it in GSView and print to the PDFWriter device.
2. Download and install OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org) Open the Word Document in Open Office, and then select ';Export to PDF'; off the File menu.
The best free software I have found for this is pdf995:

2. Download and install OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org) Open the Word Document in Open Office, and then select ';Export to PDF'; off the File menu.
The best free software I have found for this is pdf995:
http://www.pdf995.com/
Just use the print dialoge and select pdf995 as the printer. Works great.
Oh yeah, it works from any application which can print, not just Word.
How can I create a PDF file with an Adobe Acrobat program?

You can read this PDF tutorial to help you edit PDF with Adobe Acrobat:
http://www.gsw.edu/~oiit/techsupp/acroba
Hope it helps.
PS: Adobe Acrobat is expensive, if you need to edit PDF, i recommend this PDF Editor: http://www.allpdftools.com/pdf-editor.ht
You can edit your PDF just as in a word processor, very easy to use.How can I create a PDF file with an Adobe Acrobat program?
Adobe Acrobat is a read only program.
Convert the file to something else (e.g. a word doc, open office doc)
Make your changes
Then save it (open office allows you to save it as a pdf)
If you save it as word doc - there are web-based programs that will convert a word doc into pdf for free.
IF you need to edit a PDF, that's not that easy.
I have an idea, why not convert the PDF file to Word format so that you can edit in it?
I'm using AnyBizSoft PDF to Word converter, that works pretty good. Even restricted PDF can be converted.

Good luck! How do I change a Word doc into PDF without having to print it?
Do you have Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Acrobate Reader? If so, you can open your word document via Acrobat and save as a .pdf.
If you have Illustrator, I would recreate the word document and save as an Illustrator .pdf.
If you are just using word, you would have to go to print as .pdf, this does not print the file, it actually saves the file as a .pdf.

I've used PDF files for many years, and never had one open in Word. Word cannot read PDF. Do you have Adobe Reader? If not, why not go the easier route and get Foxit Reader, a very small, very fast and efficient reader. It will open a PDF while Adobe is still trying to load.

How do I change the size of .PDF or .AI document?
I need to submit a brochure design to a printing company. I've already submitted the file for the cover with no problem, but the inside of the brocure, after converting it to .PDF is 55.1 Mb.
There is a file upload page, but the max size that it takes is 50 Mb.
I tried sending it as an email attachment, but that didn't work.
I even put it in a zip folder, but it doesn't seem to have changed the file size at all (am I doing something wrong?)

Great answer. Just tinkering around with the numbers in 'Downsample'; is all you need. I changed mine from 150 to 100 for images above 225 and bingo, it went down from 7.1MB to a few hundred KB. Thanks for the great answer.
Keep up the good work.
Try using 7zip and ultra compression - it might just get it down to size.
Or you could split it into 2 files with half the pages in each (copy the file to another file, delete the first half in one, delete the second half in the other).

There are some free programs may help you. For example, Zamzar.com is a free online PDF to Word Converter. You can get more free programs at ';30+ free online and offline tools of PDF converter';.
http://www.anypdftools.com/blog/2009/06/
Have a try and hope it helps.
Free converters are available online and I got my PDF format to word format changed at
http://www.convert-doc.com that offers free service.
see how to How to Convert between Word and PDF: http://www.dvd-ppt-slideshow.com/blog/ho
there are 4 methods that you can follow.
There are a whole slew of PDF to Word format converters on the Web to choose from, there are even online converters where you submit the PDF doc at a website and you get a Word doc back. Just Google and look for a good choice.
Be aware that text in a PDF document can be either text that will go convert straight into Word text or it could be text embedded in a graphic image and so you might have to pull the graphic out of the word document and have to use an optical character recognition (OCR) program to retrieve it.

There are a whole slew of PDF to Word format converters on the Web to choose from, there are even online converters where you submit the PDF doc at a website and you get a Word doc back. Just Google and look for a good choice.
