CutePDF and PDF995 are both free and don't place an ad on your document. I do know PDF995 shows you an ad while you are making the file but the document itself remains ad free. Both these are popular with self publishers at Lulu.com.How do I change a WORD document to a PDF? Where can I get a FREE trial without ads on the document???
Some versions of Word 2007 have Save As PDF capability.
Download Open Office at http://www.openoffice.org and then open the document and save it as a pdf. You may have to export it or print it as a pdf, I'm not sure but I know it is compatible with office and it is free and has a pdf feature.

As lain said. PDFonline.com. You attach the file to be converted into a pdf, then they email it back to you instantaneously. I know the adobe website does that too.
