How do change the images in a .pdf file?

i'm re-illustrating a book, and my client sent me a .pdf file with the manuscript and the old illustrations. how do i delete the old illustrations and put in new ones?



i have adobe acrobat pro (which doesn't seem to help in anyway), and adobe InDesign.
