You have to use an editor like Adobe Acrobat Professional which is quite expensive or Foxit PDF Editor is a cheaper alternative (a free six month license is available). There is also a free open source editor available through sourceforge.
Foxit PDF Editor is the first and still the only REAL editor for PDF files, which allows you to easily and efficiently change contents in any existing PDF files.
Another method (which is free) would be to extract the text and use a word processor like Microsoft Word or Open Office (free) to edit your text. I recommend PDFTextOnline. It's easy to use, free and works from your browser. How can i make some changes to PDF document?
I don't think pdf documents are meant to be edited - I think they are factual documents that you aren't meant to be able to change.
There's a couple of ways I've come across.
The first way is you can download and install Inkscape. It is a vector drawing app, but you can use it to open and edit pdf files.
The second way is to get a copy of openoffice and install the pdf import extension. It imports the pdf into a drawing so it might be overkill to go this way. You might want to try Inkscape first.
There is a free add on for MS Word which allows you to import/export using the PDF file format.
I type up my CV in MS Word and then I save in .PDF file format.
Should be able to do the opposite too.
